In its seventh edition, Vektor continues to showcase a wide range of immersive formats, including VR, AR, MR, spatial video, installation-based works, and performative works. At the same time - on a thematic level - the programme arrives at a moment to bring the background into the foreground, and presents works that operate in this register: through the body, through encounter, through presence. Therefore this year’s curatorial approach brings together immersive works that engage with the perceptual layers of contemporary reality, proposing a different reading of what background noise is: it can hold what gets dismissed and amplify what cannot be heard. Technology can push these registers into perception, making sensible what otherwise stays beneath the threshold.
With the support of the International Visegrad Fund, Vektor continues to evolve as a dedicated curatorial space for immersive storytelling in Central Europe, embedded within the Verzió Film Festival. By continuing a co-curation model with partners from all four V4 countries, deepening ties with Slovakia and Poland alongside ongoing collaborations in the Czech Republic, the programme ensures balanced regional representation and local engagement.
The event also brings an important change, inviting emerging scholars and creative professionals who will hold workshops and masterclasses to help young creatives and students deepen their skillset and expand their network within the region. The workshops will be held in Budapest and livestreamed. In the long term, this layered model strengthens cross-border cultural infrastructure and fosters a more interconnected immersive media ecosystem across the Visegrad region.
